About Aria Okafor
Aria has been working remotely as a freelance writer since 2019 and has held digital nomad or long-stay visas in five different countries. She joined The Visa Index in 2023 to cover the segment she was already living in — remote-work routes that didn't exist a decade ago and change almost every month. Before writing full-time, Aria worked in product operations at a Lagos-based fintech, which is where she learned to read tax treaties without falling asleep. She pressure-tests every nomad-visa guide on her own application history, including the two rejections she has collected along the way, and she is unusually honest about processing-time reality versus what a government website promises. Currently based in Chiang Mai on Thailand's DTV, she writes from the same cafés her readers are about to work from.
